Unforgettable Excursions from the Port
Sorrento, a charming coastal town perched on tuff cliffs, is a renowned tourist hotspot in Campania. Famous for its mild climate and stunning coves along the shoreline, Sorrento draws millions of visitors each year, lured by the myth and history of the Siren’s Land. Don’t miss the charming historical center, the main square named after the celebrated poet Torquato Tasso, the 15th-century Sedile Dominova with its exquisite majolica dome and vibrant frescoes, the San Francesco Cloister, the Cathedral, and the bustling main street lined with bars, eateries, pizzerias, souvenir stores, and local artisan shops.
In 79 AD, the catastrophe of Vesuvius engulfed the entire city of Pompeii, whose excavations now showcase a well-preserved Roman city, earning it a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Wander through the vast archaeological park to witness the ancient Baths, the Temple of Venus, the Temple of Apollo, a pre-Roman basilica, the civil forum, and the heart of the city’s economic, religious, and social life. Explore Pompeian homes that were both humble abodes and sacred spaces.
The final stop on our tour is the legendary Mount Vesuvius, where history, geology, and nature converge in the national park that houses the still-active volcano. Trek to the crater’s summit, approximately 1000 meters above sea level, for awe-inspiring views of the Gulf of Naples. Along the way, marvel at natural wonders, mesmerizing landscapes, old crops, and unique flora and fauna that enchant the Vesuvian region.
